Neil LaBute’s adaptation of A S Byatt’s Booker Prize winning novel of the same name is a beautiful and passionate film.Modern day scholar Roland Mitchell, played by Aaron Eckhart, stumbles upon fragments of a letter from one poet to another, which puts him on the trail of their hitherto unknown forbidden love affair. Enlisting the reluctant aid of fellow scholar, Maud Bailey, played by Gwyneth Paltrow, the two follow the lovers’ trail only to find themselves falling into a romance of their own.
Jeremy plays the fictional Victorian Poet Laureate Randolph Henry Ash who, despite being married to Ellen, finds himself drawn to fellow poet, Christabel LaMotte, played by Jennifer Ehle.
