THE GOLDEN BOWL
An oft-times overlooked film from the Merchant Ivory stable, The Golden Bowl features wonderful performances from Uma Thurman and Anjelica Huston and Jeremy as an Italian prince, which works on so many levels. It is the story of two marriages entangled with one another. Prince Amerigo, an Italian Aristocrat, is married to Maggie, the daughter of an American tycoon. Previously he had been having an affair with his true love, Charlotte, who later marries Adam, Maggie’s father, and the lives of the four become mixed up in one family. The Prince and Charlotte soon continue their affair unaware that there are others who know of their actions. The story comes to a startling and dramatic finale as the adulterous affair is brought to light.
Stars Jeremy as Prince Amerigo, Uma Thurman as Charlotte, Kate Beckinsale as Maggie, Nick Nolte as her father, Adam Verver, and Anjelica Huston and James Fox as family friends.
