Leland’s Travels
Leland’s Travels was a 45-minute-long programme from Sunday Feature broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Sunday, 26th April 2009 at 9.30pm.
David Wallace explored the life and work of humanist scholar John Leland, who was commissioned by Henry VIII to search through the ancient libraries of all the religious houses of his kingdom and catalogue their literary treasures – before the monasteries were destroyed and their manuscripts dispersed.
