THE TRIBE
This was Jeremy’s first outing in a Stephen Poliakoff film (the second being Glorious 39 which was released in 2009).
He played Jamie, who works for a real estate developer intent on evicting a charismatic group of young people who have formed a “tribe” and love behind high walls and locked gates in what appears to be some form of bizarre cult. They’re beautiful, creative and smart. They live by their own rules, and fear is their chief weapon. Jamie is tasked with infiltrating the group, winning their confidence and offering them the incentive to leave their spot of prime real estate. As he becomes more familiar with the group though, will he betray them or be seduced by them?
It’s an intriguing drama, especially for anyone who has felt the alienation of living in a big city or being perceived to be different to society’s norm. The cast includes Joely Richardson, Anna Friel, Laura Fraser, Trevor Eve, who was in Jeremy’s 2002 film Possession and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jeremy’s future co-star in The Tudors.
Running time is approx. 100 mins. Currently only available on Region 1 DVD. (US/Canada)
